Six year old freezer, exactly the same symptoms - high temp. warning, set to fast-freeze, cured for two days, repeats, intervals get shorter, eventually stopped working altogether. Our ice-cream ran! Found this and other 'help' sites by typing APP6403 into Google - nothing on appliance to tell me what manufacturer - Howden's built kitchen, all units included, no maufacturers name.
Lots of reports on other sites of same symptoms/problem. Always same answer.
Replacement thermostat unit currently £55.63, inc. VAT + postage, £60.58 from UK Whitegoods ( http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=687). Much cheaper than new freezer!!

I just have an enginer visit who said that the electronic module needs to be replaced. I hope he knows what he is talking about as the part costs £90 incl VAT.

We have a similar problem, the red light is winking and the acoustic alarm sounding. Switching on "Fast Freeze" shuts it up for two days. That is our Short-Term Fix.
However, far from the food being near to thawing you now need a cold chisel to get the ice cream out of the container. So if anyone can come up with a better fix, we'd be grateful!
