Electrolux EWF1087 Fault "E90" ?We have a Electrolux EWF1087 Ecovalve 7kg machine, approximately 6months old. It works well and runs properly , but then it randomly decides to not work.
When switched on, there is a significant delay before the console lights up [10-60s], and all lights flash while "E90" is displayed. There is a very annoying beeping noise. The machine is non-responsive and will continue to fail, whether left on or reset. The machine will continue to do this for days [Almost a week now].
...and then it will randomly work one day and work perfectly.
This error code is not in the manual and nor do Electrolux have any idea [which is frustrating, considering it is their machine!]. It'd be nice to be able to wash my work uniform more than once a 40hr week, particularly in this summer heat. Is there any way I can correct this fault? Is it an electronics error?

WoW, How are these Electrolux guys getting away with this? UnF'ing believable. In my opinion, when a product performs this badly and there is enough digruntled customers, consumer affairs should step in and ban the broduct from sale until the manufacturer fixes the problem. Better still, make them warranty all white goods for at least 5 years. Its a disgrace for us a society to produce such rubbish and waste valuable resources and so poluting the environment. Local councils should also step in and make these companies pay for safe disposal of their expensive rubbish.

Thanks Peter, I took the top off and used a hair dryer to dry all the wires and electric looking stuff and it worked!

This E90 fault problem started with me when the weather was humid and set in permanently during a period of heavy rainfall. I tried WD40 but with no joy. I figured it has to be be connected to moisture in the air and was going to try the CO contact cleaner. But first I took the top of the machine off and set up a fan directed into the board and wiring area. I let it run for 40 minutes and yep, it fixed the problem.

We get this on our Electrolux, along with freezing of the digital diplay, total blackout of the display, etc. The problem with the controls never ends. It usually takes a few swift 'Fonzie' taps to fix it.

Okay, I know how to fix this.
I spent $760 on this washing machine and in its 3rd year (out of warranty) it displayed this error. So I got on the forums as there was no way I was spending $400 to repair it (we had this quoted by a washing machine repairer).
I read on the forums to spray WD40 on the blue wires that connect to front of the washing machine, and also pull these looms out of the socket on the right hand side of the machine (R hand side if you are facing the front of the machine). My friend's father who is an electrician (but not a domestic one) bought around some 'CO Contact Cleaner' which he said was more expensive than WD 40. He used the thin nozzle to spray inside the front panel where the blue looms connect, and also pulled them out of the socket on the right hand side and sprayed them (and the socket) with CO contact cleaner.
It WORKED!! Well it worked for about 4 more weeks. Then E90 appeared again...I bought WD40 (about $12) and did the same thing and it still displayed E90. I was devastated.
So I went to Dick Smith and bought CO Contact Cleaner for $25 hoping it would be different from WD40. And it worked!! So I think I need to spray CO Contact cleaner on the blue looms and socket every 4 weeks or so. Happy to do this if it saves me money.
Will let you know how it goes. The blue wire things you need to spray are a group of 5 that connect to the front - use the thin nozzle to spray the connection under the metal guard, and then pull them out of the socket (gently) on the right hand side. Spray the connection and the socket.
I was contemplating spending $1000 on an Asko or Bosch, but didn't quite have the finances. I spoke with a retired washing machine mechanic who said unless you have the big dollars, the trick is these days (for top loaders), is buy a mid range one and get an extended 5 year warranty. Because even your top of the range aren't guaranteed to work after a 1-2 year warranty, even though they have a better chance.

Thanks, I can confirm this works
"its an electrolux fault code.they know what it means!!!!.bad connection on communications wire.this is a blue loom of about 5 wires that come off the main pcb and connect to the display board in fascia panel.clean pcb terminals and tighten loom connection pins and this should solve problem"

Error 90 is a common fault code in domestics within the Electrolux, Zanussi, AEG range. It's a wiring fault /connection normally between the printed cicuit board and wires. switch off power, remove lid, pull off each connector on board checking for clip holding the connector in place, one at a time, look for arcing marks, rub pins gently with clean cloth, tensinsion up clips in connector(delicately) and refit. having done this, test again with a wet load on spin, then a wash programme. Before dispairing check the motor coonnections.

Liam,
Unfortunately i must first warn you this isn't the answer to your question. I just wanted to point out that you are not alone in the frustrating, annoying world of Electolux Fault E90.
Yes, Against my better judgement and advice, my partner brought one of these machines home. Having been an electrician for the last 10 years I know them (front loaders) to be the bain of my white good existence. Imagine my distinct lack of understanding and happiness (after pushing myself into installing it/ whilst begrudgingly removing my old indestructable and very much alive HOOVER COMMANDER TOPLOADER)
"which I completely rebuilt 3 months ago" to find E90. Possibly the most annoying and randomly occuring fault and alarm in white good history. I must add that you are one up on us. You managed to wash your work clothes (albeit once weekly). I / we haven't yet had the pleasure. So I guess from here, it's back to the commander. Oh and congratulations to electrolux, for being as unhelpful, docile and completely devoid of back up as they have ever been.... Liam, buy a toploader. For your own sanity. Cheers,
