I would also add that you need to first remove the engine cover (4 clips that are removed by lifting gently and rotating at the same time through 90 degrees) and the left hand piece of padding / insulation on the bulkhead.

The pollen filter is on the bulkhead, directly behind the engine, under a plastic cover (the clips on which always seem to bl**dy break!) Unclip and pull the filter out forwards.
