Logik LDVR 1608 won't come out of standby?Hi, My Logik LDVR 1608 DVD recorder with freeveiw was working perfectly well till one morning it refused to come out of standby mode. It has power because it's blue light is on but the clock does not show. If it was a computer I'd reboot it - is that possible?

I have the same problem there is discoloration under the diodes next to the transformer and that electrical burning odour that brings back memories.
Can the diodes in the power supply just fail or has something else either on this power board or elsewhere on the recorder caused this.
Thanks

The fix works for the Logik LDVR 808 too. Capacitor C112 becomes buldged, and the power supply fails. Replacing that capacitor brings the unit back to life.
Excellent info - thank!

my problem was the same, i found that capacitor C112 2200uF had a raised top. I replaced it and everything is back to normal.

Hi
It seems from looking at some of the problems related to this machine it all stems from a poor power suppy unit.
Having had a problem were the machine had been fine untill it was un-plugged from the mains after which it was completly dead.
I tested the power supply and found that some of the Diodes among the large group had gone.
I went to Maplins and got some new ones 6amp 5 to 50volt for about £6 i replaced all of them and its now as good as new.

Sorry - no answer - just another casualty of the dreaded blue light.

take the dvd casing and remove the cover, take out dvd disc and throw it in the bin.replace cover on dvd casing and replace it into the unit.turn it on and press open to replace disc.don't use crap dvd's as they cause more problems than anything.Good Luck

Same problem for me - blue light and fan comes on but nothing else.
Took the top off - WHILE THE POWER WAS OFF - CAUTION there is a Danger Live warning inside!
A small fuse by the power lead was intact (which I'd expect given that there is obviously some power getting in there. No obvious blown capacitors. Nothing obviously amiss to my fairly untrained eye.
I tried unplugging first the HD then the DVD drive and tried to reboot inbetween each. Nothing changed.
This is just to let anyone else thinking of doing the same that they are probably wasting their time.
That's about my limit of fiddling without any further info.
This seems to be a massively common fault. I'd be grateful if anyone could post any useful info.
Regards
John

I have just joined the club.
My 1608 opened up as normal last night, went to menu and then the entire display suddenly went bright green.
No text/sound, nothing. No remote control.
Did power off, now all I can get is the blue light but no onscreen or led display.
No apparent reset button on the pcbs.
Very odd.

Sorry, I can't provide a solution, but the same thing has just happened to me (on Xmas day!) with the Logik LDVR808.
Did you ever solve this problem?
Thanks.
