sticky connectors/terminals sunbeam electric kettle?
Hello
I have a sunbeam electric kettle model no KE8800. When I try to remove kettle from base the connectors are catching on the base.
I hope you can help me with this problem as I really like this kettle and don't want to replace it.
Thankyou
Susan
Probably a bit late for you, Susan, but I've had the same problem with my KE8800 recently. Finally got around to opening it up today to see what's wrong...
The base has a spring-loaded mechanism that the kettle slots into. This has a grease on it that seems to have dissipated or expired and has become rather sticky. When lifting the kettle, part of the spring-loaded mechanism gets stuck at an odd angle and pinches the contacts on the kettle.
I took apart the base (6 screws, 5 of them under the feet-pads) then cleaned off the old sticky grease.
Now knowing the cause, a small squirt of WD40 or some non-conducting lubricant would probably fix it just as well.
