Renault laguna sport auto 1999 on short journeys stop starting I lose gears when I stop and engine has reached normal running teperature.Touch accelerator gears return. On long journeys no problem until I reach end and start stop again.Has never had an oil change.
Does this mean major gearbox problems.
Renault gearbox probs have lots of postings on this site ( http://fixed4free.com/answers.php?id=155958 )...every auto gearbox on earth needs a fluid change every 30,000 no matter what the manual book says,so thats the first ( and cheapest )thing to do.
Also Renault gearbox's have a really poor reputation , you would expect prob's on a really cheapo motor ,but for the price you have to pay for most Renaults you would expect at least 100,000 miles of reliability fron the gearbox if the fluid is regulary changed.
