kenmore 1430 bobbin threading problems?I was given a kenmore 1430 machine. I do not have a manual and am having problems with threading the bobbin. I have followed all the instructions I found online but the bobbin will not budge. When I took the top off of the machine all seemed to be apparent order, nothing strange, no rust, not even alot of dust.

Hello Bee,
If the bobbin winder will not move when trying to wind a bobbin then the chances are the winder is seized through lack of oil over the years, not a major problem, if I remember the bobbin winder is part of the top of the machine, take the top off and if the winder is connected to the top take the winder rubber off, very easy, put some very thin oil such as WD40 on the winder and try and get it to trickle inside, it may take about ten minutes to seep through, take an electric hand drill and put it over the top of the winder and turn the switch the drill on so it moves slowly and you will find it will free itself, be sure to hold the machine top still whilst you have the drill running, VERY IMPORTANT TO RUN THE DRILL SLOWLY, as far as a book is concerned they have them in stock at www.kenmoresewingmachines.com type it in and scroll down to relics and you will find your model, any problems let me know.
