i have an ideal standard purity push button cistern which has recently started permanently running water into bowl. How can I stop this from happening?

Its possible the inlet water valve needs adjusting so it shuts off at a level lower than the internal overflow. Or the washer needs replacing in the inlet valve. If you know how to change washer then don't forget to turn the water off to cistern first.
