Popping the back is easy on a Timex - There's always a teeny arrow pointing to the lip. Like Mike said, use a very small screwdriver. To replace the back, line up the little groove over the stem, place the face on a piece of leather. Take a wooden sewing spool or something like it on the back, and tap it with a small hammer.

look closely at the back, you'll see a small lip. Place the end of a small (2-3 mm) standard screwdriver on the lip and pry up. The back will pop off. that said, i'm trying to figure out how to get the back on at the moment.
They either have screws or they don't. If they do you will need a good quality driver of the right size.
If they don't, you will need to look carefully but you should see a "dip" around the base of the back.
This is where you use your strong but tiny screwdriver to lever the back off.
It's worth looking around. Some jewellers offer free fitting if you buy the battery from them.
