After spending almost a day myself and husband have only managed to scrape of the equivalent size of a dinner plate. We have tried soaking the paper. Is there a quicker method for removing woodchip wallpaper?
The tool you need is a perforator,Its a hand held roller with spikes on.Drag the tool all over the walls as many times as possible. You could buy one from a decorating supplies shop etc. Use a steam stripper and the woodchip will be a lot easier to remove.Dont hold the steamer on to long in the same area, this can cause the plaster to pop and crack underneath the paper,If this happens you will need to repair the damaged sections (more work!!).You will soon get to know how long to leave the steamer on for. hope this helps
We had to strip 4 rooms. We ended up tapping the wall with a hammer to break the plaster underneath and pulling the whole lot off. We had to re-skim every wall, but at the rate we were picking the woodchip off, it would have taken 6 months!
You can buy a special tool you use like a rake and it scores the paper allowing the water to penetrate to the glue,I would also advise the use of a steam wallpaper stripper.
