If Henry swallowed a nail, either it passed through in to the bag (in which case it is not related to the problems you describe) or it got stuck somewhere and general debris has built up behind it causing a blockage (which will cause overheating and poor suction). So what do you need to do? First, detach the hose and make sure it is clear of obstruction. Then make sure there's no obstruction where the hose enters the main body. If all is clear but you still have the problem, make sure the main filter (the sort of collapsible top-hat that fits over the bag) is clean. Incidentally, some people use Henry without a bag but it's a false economy. If everything so far is clear and clean then there is most probably a problem with the motor itself (often Henry signals this by becoming more noisy). Assuming you are in the UK, a new motor will cost about £65, plus labour for fitting, so you'd be approaching the cost of a new machine.

make sure hose is clear , replace bag , make sure air intake ,extract grill on motor is clear and all filters are clean. failing that bearings could be on way out on motor shaft.
