Montgomery Ward Sewing Machine Model 1950 locking up?Hello,
My Montgomery Ward Sewing Machne Model 1950 keeps locking up and the thread keeps breaking. I've tried adjusting the tension of the top thread tension setter and also on the bobbin. Just keeps locking up. I've also cleaned the lint out of the bobbin area several times.
Also the various cams that came with the machine do not work. I have the manual and have followed instructions to no avail. One last thing, I need to replace one of the pins on the front flap. Where can I get relacement parts?

I wish I had an answer for you - but I have a question! I just got a UHT J1950 - is that the one you have too? I can't find a manual ANYWHERE!!! The machine was given to me after I posted that I was looking for one on freecycle. If that's the same one, would you be willing to make a copy of the manual for me - I'd gladly pay for it! Thanks for thinking about it!

Hello Tac,
Unlikely you will get a pin for the flap, try and improvise, have you taken the bobbin case and the hook out of the machine to make sure there is no thread stuck in there?
The top tension should be about 5, make sure you have the presser foot up when you thread the machine, you should be able to pull the thread through on the bobbin case with slight resistence, if it is too tight slacken the screw on the bobbin case anti clockwise about a quarter of a turn at a time and test.
Make sure you have the machine stitch on straight stitch when you put a cam in then select the width of stitch, does the machine sew okay on straight stitch and zig zag otherwise?
