Gilera DNA 50 wont start after re-jetted (Help much appreciated)?
I have recently up-jetted my carb on my Gilera DNA 50 from a 56 to a 64 as i'm fitting a performance exhaust. The bike hasn't started since. I connected everything up they way it was. The petrol in the carb all spilled out when fitting main jet and i didn't put anymore back in. Should I put more petrol back in?
I have the same problem bike won't start was fine when I left the garage new reed Block Valve fitted Was fine 3days later tryed to start it nothing happened
Hi again, put old jet in(56) and thoroughly cleaned carb. I put the fuel in the bore as you said and it started but the rear tyre spun on full throttle - so turned it off and started again. This time tyre didn't spin but the throttle didn't work and it conked out a minute later. There was also fuel spewing out the bottom but i think this is due to the gasket which partially perished when cleaning the carb itself. Could I glue the old gasket into place? Also, when i took the throttle cable out of the carb the needle had came off and another part had jammed itself into the carb. Still perplexed as to how this happended..? Any ideas as to why fuel is not getting to the spark? - surely its something simple.
Thanks as always your help is much, much appreciated!
Hi,
Ok the carb float bowl would of been full of petrol and would of spilt out. This is not a problem. you dont need to fill up again. This fills up again when you try and start. This will mean the carb is empty and so you will have to take longer to start. Take the plug out and Pop a LITTLE petrol down the bore, replace plug and then try to start. does it fire and die? if so fuel not getting to spark. If it was working before then it is something simple.
1. Is that defo the right size jet? try the old one back in
2. I would suggest something is not in right place. strip carb again and start over
