Murray Riding Mower?I have an older Murray riding mower, it worked fine one afternoon, and I parked it. When I came back later, it started and ran fine, but when I went to engage the forward peddle, nothing, reverse the same, nothing!
I found a spring under mower, and looked it up in the parts manual but shows this type spring belonging to mower deck. What makes the rearend of these things quit?

I figured this out! There is a spring hidden in the frame, that keeps tension on the belt drive pulleys, and it was broken. I had to flip mower on it's side to even be able to see this spring!
Thanks to everyone who gave there answers!

Some of the older Murrays had a belt drive from the engine to a pulley on the gearbox underneath, and then a chain drive from the gearbox to the rear axle. Obviously both need to be in place!
