Fisher & Paykel Fridge (Model E442) - fault codes please?I have a F&P E442 (Upside Down Fridge), which keeps beeping now and then (usually at 2am-argh). The user manual eludes to / talks about "fault codes", but doesn't spell out what the codes are exactly (which I assume are shown as a particular sequence of flashing icons on the menu at the back). Does anyone know the codes and what they mean? Help.....

Total waste of time these machines are and trying to find anyone to repair them is a bit of a struggle even in such a large place as london luckily my neighbour had a problem with his fridge and the guy who fixed his came out gave mine a bang and a wallop only joking and now its finally seems to be behaving itself. Oh sorry nearly forgot to mentioned the bloke is company is called www.agsrefrigeration.co.uk you can contact him directly on 07723019161.

I decided to do what was recomended by an authorised F & P service department, replace both fans and control board with the new improved parts from F & P. Not too difficult to actually do however bad news is problem has not been fixed....... I need to check cables as I agree with previous messages; design is very poor on all wiring looms in the fridge. The new improved controller now only beeps error messages when you open the fridge door. At least I am managing to get some sleep again, how the person in the head office service team who told me they had never haerd of this fault sleeps at night I will never know. Common consensus on all Fisher & Paykel kit is looks lovely, works well for a while then breaks down........

Same story for me; in my case the fridge came with the house. I would never buy one myself. In addition, I'm in Holland where service to F&P fridges is hard to get. So I decided to fix it myself. First I replaced a fan, as described excellently elsewhere. Of course I couldn't get an official F&P fan, so I just used a Sunon KD1208PTS1.13 12V fan, modified it by hand a bit, and snapped it in. Worked fine for only $4,-. The beeping stopped mostly, but still sometimes it came back (indeed, around 3 AM; whaaaahhrggg). I was also tired of the "sabbath mode" solution. Indeed, this really made me want to kill the beeper itself; so I opened the small white plastic box into which the wire from the plug goes. You can find it at the back of the fridge, in the low right left corner (be careful to take the plug out first before opening ;-)). I found the beeper inside: it's on the topside of the circuit board, round, approx 1 cm high, 2 cm accross, black plastic, and has a hole in the middle through which you can see a kind of gold metal shining inside. I soldered it out (it has only two pins), and now all is well!

I have looked at a lot of forums about this noisy piece of crap, and it seems no one is very happy with their F&P fridge. The beeping is driving us insane at 2 am or whenever it feels like it. It seems to be working fine, just very noisy and now beeping like crazy.
Look at this:

Yea I have the same problem with my F&P. Their products are so dependent on computer brains that aren't so smart. If they were that smart you'd think they'd give a clear indication as to what is wrong and which part to replace. Alternatively design the parts so they last more than a couple of years without breaking. This is my last F&P product. They're rubbish.

Yeah ,I also got this computerized rubbish.Been to the dealer under warranty and they claim to have installed new circuit board however it still intermitantly starts beeping at 2am as well. Now the b***ard is out of warranty and I can only think of removing(unsoldering) the beeper.I've learnt my lesson,When you want a fridge or any other applianceyou dont want a computer if you can avoid it.Give me a standard thermostat any day that I can replace myself.Had a similar beeping problem with F&P washing machine and authorized service dealer could not garantee that replacement of new circuit board for a few hundred dollars would actually fix problem and if not I would still have to wear price.Once again give me a mechanical timer and diagnosis would be easy.I did read in a service forum to avoid any electronics any any appliance that uses water.
