Vinegar then used a nail/screw to unblock the hole where the steam comes out and finally it unblocked

Thanks to Andy and Jon Davis.
I turned the mop head in towards the handle to see if any thing was happening and suddenly the steam came so I'm assuming it was an air Lock, this was after vinegar had soaked for a while But no steam but it may have helped clear some lime scale. I'm using my iron water as well to try and avoid lime scale buildup. Very pleased it is working, thanks guys.

Just had the same problem. Emptied the water tank and filled with vinegar. Turned it on for five mins and it started to steam almost immediately!! Obviously it was limescale in the tank. Refilled with water and now running as new!!

Got mine out of the loft having not used for a couple of years and had the same problem. Tried Andy's suggestion but still no good. Took whole think apart but got nowhere, just realised how cheaply made it was. Going in the bin, what a waste of money (and a day clearing out rooms to clean the carpets of!)
I guess there's a reason carpet cleaners are expensive to hire!

I have 2 of these one was a replacement for original (which they asked me to discard!) and they are both the same, slightly warm but no steam. Hardly used either of them and now (after getting from loft) trying again after 3 years they are going into the bin. Waste of time and money at about £60 a go.
Why do these companies make these things if they don't work?

I have the same problem with my steam mop! It heats up fine, after being plugged in, & tank filled with water! It makes the chugging pump noise when the on button is depressed, but the steam mop has never produced any steam.
The Annoying thing is I can't find the invoice for the thing. So the only thing that is producing any steam is me at this moment in time! What a complete waste of money.
I've even unplugged it, unscrewed the base plate to see if there is anything obvious that wasn't connected, but there wasn't anything I could see! Just the smell of the motor, which smelled if it had been overheating! So I've turned it off, emptied the water tank & put it away again!
Conclusion. I would never recommend a Home Tek steam mop to anyone to buy!

My thanks to Andy Harrison - I followed his method outlined above - no steam was being produced and tapping the mop unit on it's side cleared an air lock in the pipes and everything is fine now

After further work on my daughter's steam mop I cut and joined the holed pipe switched on and after a while a little steam came out and suddenly the joint blew apart. I realised that the problem was that the outlet was blocked and the pressure build up caused the pipe to burst. Remedy never use tap water only use de-ionised water. tap water will over time block the outlet and the pressure build up is high enough to burst the heater inlet or outlet pipes.

my daughters homtek steam mop ht824 was'nt working when stripped found the pipe from the pump to heater had a hole in it probable cause heat from the heater burnt hole in it. therefor the heater was not being fed with water so no steam. Cannot find spares of special high temperature pipes.

Hi
I had the same problem with my Steam Mop. The motors running, heater working but there was no steam. I found the problem to be an air lock in the small water pipes which meant that the water was not filling the steam unit. I filled the reservoir with water and held the unit on its side with the sole plate up to the side. I then gently tapped on the unit and steam once again came out at the required pressure. I left the unit to run for about 10 minutes without the mop head on and refilled the water tank. Seems to be working now

Hi everyone, I have just been given one of these to try to repair for a friend. She was sold it at one of those demonstrations and has only used it a couple of times. It went back once under guarantee but has now gone again. (Hot but no steam, like Sue). There seem to be a lot of us with similar problems. Hope some one, (Home Tek even) can give us some answers! Good luck.....

I have a similar problem. The lights come on and the base gets warm but no steam. I tried a suggestion of cleaning it out with a steradent tablet but that hasn't worked. Not been used very much either.
