Please can you help me to reset my Scantronic 9800 Alarm system? Our power supply was turned off for 20 mins by our electrician, and now our Scantronic 9800 is showing 'rr'. I really don't want to have to pay £60-70 for an engineer call out.
I have the engineer code. The type of panel has 'omit' & 'clear' on it (ie not 'x' or a tick)
I'm assuming that with the engineer code there is a simple sequence to reset the system, but I can't find anything that works - I can get into engineer 'service' mode but have no clue what to do when I'm in. Can anyone please give me a simple step by step/button by button' help?
Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give me. Rich

I'm just a lay person guys - I do appreciate the responses, so please...there really is no need to be so heavy. If the system is that old then I think the suggestion of biting the bullet and getting a full engineer service is probably the best thing in case its more than just a battery issue.
Guys - I run and moderate various guitar & amp forums, on which I'm an expert with 40 yrs experience....and if an inexperienced person is asking a reasonable question, or trying to get a bit more clarification, we all try to help and explain stuff & treat folk kindly...there really is no need to be rude, abrasive or condescending to a lay query - and it really doesn't help to belittle people just so that you can feel superior.
I appreciate your time in responding...honestly...but for some of you, your people skills need some serious work.

one last thing friend, just to educate you a bit,the standby battery should power the system for eight hours after a power cut,the system you have the 9800 is at least twenty years old,we have fitted over a thousand of them, they are a lot smarter than the owners, but they must be looked after, something that you have not done.like getting it serviced once a year,
your alarm company would have checked all circuits, for resistance changes, and put a dummy load on the battery that would have shown up a faulty cell,
as your system will work on the mains feed, but if you get faulty cell,in battery,it trip alarm if your mains fail,
in extreme cases, the battery can blow the fuse in the panel,so,if you dont want our advice, call your alarm company, pay them to repair it,

Guys, appreciate the responses - but the power was only off for about 15 mins - surely the battery can't have failed in that time & need replacing? Is this not just a reset issue?

just be very careful when your in the engineering prog,(red light flashing)when you open up the end station lid,a red (E) will show,do not press any buttons,as you may change some programmed functions, just change the battery, and follow what i said before,if you have any trouble, give me a call,0776 322 9681

rr = Total power failure (engineer reset required).
What you have described should not have happened, at the very least your standby battery has seen better days (it's dead)
Bite the bullet and get the engineer out to do a battery replacement and a full service with its associated guarantee for the work.
