Renault Megane 1.4 (R) get rid of bl***y immobiliser - please help!!?When I bought my Renault Megane 1.4 last year, the owner said the remote key sometimes wouldn't work first time. This was fine until recently, when it now takes ages to get it to unlock the immobiliser. I have fitted new batteries, and still very erratic. Sometimes first time, sometimes not until next day. I read somewhere about removing something in the engine to disarm immobiliser. Can anyone help please?

George, thanks for the ideas. Yes, I do have a sunroof and this was leaking water into the car. Turned out the drainage tubes had blocked up. I cleared them out, and now no more water. Is the transponder the small thing at the front under the roof? It has a small plastic dome, which has a piece of circuit board inside. If I point the key at it, should this be the best signal? How far away outside the car should the remote key operate when it works as planned?

does your megane have a sunroof?
clio's were bad for water leaking thru the sunroof into the transponder for the immobiliser and corroding the circuitry, it's worth checking yours to make sure its not the key thats at fault.
