I just turned on a set of four halogen downlights in my living room, about 2 seconds later, with a pop sound emanating from the ceiling space (I think) - they all went off simultaneously.
This is a blown transformer isn't it?
Is changing this going to be a hassle?
Answered it myself.
Decided to take the dimmer out of the equation, as I couldn't think of another explanation, apart from a blown switch (how often that that occur?) or a quadruple-bulb-failure (yeah right!) - so I disconnected it and she all works fine! Except one bulb - maybe one bulb blew, which somehow triggered the dimmer to croak in the opposite state - before it was dead, but on, then it became dead and off.....
Weird.
Hopefully my self answered question will help someone!
Not an answer - more info I have ascertained - lights are 240V halogens, set of 4 - the cord attaching to the base of the bulb has GU10-240V-50W on it....
So I'm thinking there won't be a transformer!
The set of four is double switched - one plain switch and one with a dimmer (dimmer has never worked). Could this be a dimmer problem?
