My Pioneer DVR-3100 Recorder is on the blink, the internal DVDRW is a DVR-106, however I cannot obtain one of these as they have been superseeded by the DVR-111/112 range. Are these compitable ?
I presume, as this is over a year old, you have found the required info on other sites/forums but if not:
The 3100 uses a standard Pioneer 106 drive inside, it is certainly possible to replace it with a 107 or newer drive. However, on other forums this has been met with varying degrees of success mainly due to the fact you will require a Pioneer service remote and service disc both of which are very difficult to get hold of. Personally I gave up and just bought a new DVD recorder from another brand, much cheaper and hasn't let me down once.
