Hello,
I have a Windows XP system and have been trying to copy pictures and files to CD. I have sucessfully selected what i want to copy but after a couple of minutes of the CD copying the computer says Error in writing, this disc may now not be able to be used. I have tried this several times with both picures and word documents but to no avail. HELP?????????????????????????
if you can see "this driver running properly" on system" the problem is from software, any you may install your writer to another computer and check if hardware is off, finally you may need to buy new one or try to uninstall your software and reload it, or delete the driver on system and reload it. Hope works
I have hp pavillon.I have ripped cds and I now want to burn certain tracks for my own use in the car. I have burnt the music to a disc but when I try to play it on anything but the computer it does not work. Why?
are you using windows default burning software try upgrading to nero or something like that if it still fails try cleaning the laser with a laser cleaner or by another drive

Try cleaning drive using a cleaning disc (often sold for cleaning hifi's).
Also try a different brand of CD/DVD media.
It may also be a broken drive. Replacements are ~£20. Very easy to fit as long as you get the same type (almost certainly Parrellel ATA), and set the jumper to match the old drive (its just a little plastic bit you can move with a pair of pliers). A part from a few screws very little else to do.
