Tried opening up the area where the wheel is that tensions the v belt. Couldn't do much in that area. When you pull the top to 180 degrees the brush turns. I guest the wire that is attached to the handle pulls and causes more tension. My v belt and brush grooves for the belt also are burned and rubber in the grooves. No real answer for the fix.

I've got the same problem. Was planning to replace the smaller belt because we smelled burning rubber and there was melted rubber inside the brush pulley.
